At least two people were wounded when three gunmen attempted to storm a hotel and take guests hostage in the Egyptian coastal city of Hurghada, according to state run al-Ahram news agency.
Two Swedish tourists were stabbed and sent to the Nile Hospital in Hurghada, Khaled Megahed, a spokesman for Egypt’s Health Ministry, told al-Ahram.
The news agency is also reporting that security forces intervened and stopped the attack, which took place at the Bella Vista Hotel in the city’s busy downtown area.
Hurghada is a resort town along Egypt’s Red Sea coast, located about 280 miles (451km) from Cairo.
