Bernie Sanders wouldn’t promise to “schlong” Donald Trump if the two men face off in November, but he did predict a victor over the real estate mogul.
“Let me just say we will beat him badly,” said the Democratic presidential candidate, who joked about Trump’s Yiddish knowledge as a guest Tuesday night on Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.”
Asked by Wilmore to explain Trump’s colorful use of the word, which he used to disparage Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential bid, Sanders chuckled before saying, “I think you’ll have to ask Donald Trump for an explanation of that — I don’t know the answer to that.”
“I have yet to recover from Trump’s shock that women go to the bathroom, I’m still recovering from that,” Sanders quipped. “So schlonged, I haven’t figured that out yet.”
Wilmore also joked with Sanders about the scheduling of the Democratic presidential debates, and suggested that the Democratic Party was trying to bury the events to hinder Sanders’ campaign.
“I mean seriously, that last one was at like 3 a.m., like Christmas Eve, on like C-SPAN 4 — so who do you think is more against you, the Republican Party or the Democratic Party?”
Sanders deadpanned, “Well, we are taking on the establishment, and I think it is fair to say I’m not the candidate of the establishment.”
