COMMODORE — Clearfield zoomed to a 28-0 lead after one quarter and cruised past Purchase Line 63-24 in the championship game of the 37th annual Purchase Line Lions Club Boys Basketball Tournament Wednesday night.
Pacing the Bison to their ninth title in 13 tourney appearances were Tommy Hazel with 15 points and Will Myers with 10.
Most Valuable Player honors went to Myers, who had 31 points in the Bison’s pair of one-sided wins that pushed their record to 8-1.
Guards Dave McKenzie and Evan Brown also were named to the all-tournament team after chipping in nine and eight points, respectively.
The Bison were up 47-2 at intermission, so the Mercy Rule was in effect the entire second half.
Sophomore Shamar Campbell scored 12 points for the 1-8 Red Dragons and made the all-tourney team, as did his brother Dominique Campbell, a freshman.
Harmony defeated Glendale in the consolation game.
Next up for Clearfield are back-to-back home games against Brookville Tuesday and Bald Eagle Area Wednesday.
