Jason L. Unch, 35, of Clearfield died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015 at his home.
He was born July 4, 1981 in Clearfield, the son of the late Samuel “Sam” J. Unch II and Bonnie (Rowles) Maurer and his step-father Christopher of Gaithersburg, Md.
He was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School. He received his electrical degree from Triangle Tech, DuBois, and he was employed by Canrig Drilling in the gas and oil industry.
He was affiliated with the Goshen United Methodist Church. He had also attended the Community Baptist Church, Curwensville.
Mr. Unch was president of the Iron Bridge Hunting Club. He loved to hunt and fish; he enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by two brothers, Samuel J. Unch III and his wife, Nichole of Curwensville and Nathan P. Unch of Clearfield; a step-sister, Jennifer Peterman and her husband, Jason of Rockville, Md.; a niece, Allie Unch; and a nephew, Andrew Larson.
He was a father figure to Helaina and Dana Peteuil. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved pets, Brook and Gray.
Mr. Unch was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Lillian and Robert Rowles; and paternal grandparents, Samuel and Edna Unch.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with Pastor Bob Henry officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
