A person was in custody Tuesday after a shooting at a suburban New York shopping mall, a law enforcement official said.
Police responded to reports of an attempted robbery at a watch store in the crowded Roosevelt Field mall in Nassau County about 1 p.m., Officer Steve Zacchia told CNN.
It was not an active shooter situation, police said.
A 67-year-old mall employee was in serious but stable condition, officials said.
Police said the mall remained open except for the crime scene.
