When it comes to her homes, Oprah Winfrey doesn’t fool around.
Variety reports that her latest purchase, an 8,700-square-foot house in the ski resort town of Telluride, Colorado, cost a cool $14 million.

Oprah’s new digs, which have been featured on the TV show “High Tech Homes,” come with the usual spiffy amenities for starters. That means a heated driveway, a Finnish-style spa and a home automation system that can be operated from anywhere in the world.
But that’s not all.
There’s a place to store wine, but it’s a little more elaborate than a wine cellar, observes Variety’s Mark David.
“Instead of a regular ol’ wine cellar like every other rich person has, the seller opted for a Disney-esque wine tunnel elaborately decked out like an authentic mining shaft complete with rugged wood beams, lantern light fixtures, and a sound system that pipes in the sounds of creaking timber and dripping water,” he writes.
And if you want to go skiing, no need to mix with the hoi polloi on your way to the next run. Oprah’s house has a “mining tram-style funicular, installed at a cost of nearly a quarter million dollars, (to) effortlessly (take) skiers down the steep slope behind the house to one of the many ski runs that crisscross the area.”
The kicker? Oprah, who also owns houses in California, Hawaii and other places, may not be staying long: She’s building a residence on nearby land she purchased in 2014.
“Presumably the property, sold fully furnished, was acquired by the billionaire media tycoon as a ready-made place to shack up when she’s in town” to oversee construction on the other place, writes David.
According to Forbes, Oprah has a net worth of $3.2 billion.
