CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man has been accused of assault after a recent domestic dispute, according to court paperwork provided by the Lawrence Township Police Department.
Richard A. Walker, 32, of Clearfield has been charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Bail has been set at $5,000 unsecured, and his preliminary will be held Wednesday at the county jail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Dec. 10 township police were dispatched to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital emergency room for an alleged assault. It allegedly occurred at the victim’s residence on Deacon Road.
Upon arrival at the hospital, police made contact with the victim. She allegedly had two large, red marks on her upper chest and collarbones, as well as another on the right side of her neck. Also, the victim’s left wrist was allegedly noticeably swollen.
She told police that she had allegedly engaged in an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Walker, who also lives at her residence. She said Walker started playing with his phone, which made her angry.
She said she picked up her child’s wiffle ball bat and started tapping the phone and pressing it into Walker’s chest. Walker, she said, got up and went to leave, at which point he allegedly shoved her away from him.
Walker’s hands allegedly made contact with both sides of her upper chest. This allegedly knocked her backwards into the kitchen counter, and that impact caused the injury to her left wrist, she told police.
The victim provided police with a written statement. Police photographed the victim’s injuries and provided her with a domestic violence packet. While police were at the hospital, the victim advised that her left wrist was in fact broken.
Police advised the victim that due to her injuries, Walker would have to be taken into custody. The victim’s mother agreed to accompany officers to the residence in order to take custody of the victim’s and Walker’s child.
Police responded to the Deacon Road residence and took custody of Walker. He was subsequently transported to the township police station. Walker allegedly provided police with the same account of the incident as the victim.
