Florence (Flo) Evelyn (Standiford) Greenawalt, 93, of Tyrone and formerly of Osceola Mills, Bedford and Houtzdale died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015 at UPMC, Altoona.
Born March 4, 1922 in Sharon, Md., she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Clara (Sherman) Standiford.
Mrs. Greenawalt was a 1943 graduate of the Salisbury State Teachers College in Salisbury, Md.
She was an elementary school teacher with the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District for 30 years until her retirement in 1980.
She was a member of the Houtzdale United Methodist Church. She was a member of national, state and county retired teachers associations.
On Nov. 14, 1943 in Aberdeen, Md., she married George Robert Greenawalt. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2006.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. She was the last of her immediate family.
She is survived by a son, Larry Greenawalt and his wife, Mara of Houtzdale; a daughter, Sharon Hartsock and her husband, Earl of Williamsport, Md.; and one granddaughter and two step-grandsons, all of Houtzdale.
Mrs. Greenawalt enjoyed being outdoors with her flowers and God’s nature. She loved camping, modern western square dancing, golfing, spending winters in Mesa, Ariz., and being with her family.
At her request, there will be no public funeral or visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg.
