Launa S. ‘Lea’ Barchinger, 89, of Hyde died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
She was born Oct. 28, 1926 in Cosby, Tenn., a daughter of the late Dallas and Daisy (Baxter) Shultz.
Mrs. Barchinger retired from Kent Sportswear after many years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, where she taught third-grade Sunday school.
She was a lifetime member of the Hyde Fire Hall Co. Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Red Hat Ladies Society, Clearfield.
She was also the superintendent of the art department at the Clearfield County Fair for eight years, a Girl Scout leader from the ranks of Daisies to Cadets and volunteered at the Clearfield Hospital.
She is survived by three children, Ed Boruff and his wife, Jerrie of Walland, Tenn., Connie Dunn and her husband, Steven of Gates, NC and Sundae Leigh Lloyd and her husband, Gary of Hyde; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nora Lee Childress of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Conard Shultz and his wife, Marie of Knoxville, Tenn.; and five step-children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Carl Barchinger, on May 31, 2008 and to whom she was wed June 15, 1974 in Winston Salem, NC.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Boruff; a son, Aubrey G. Sharp; a sister, Mary Ann Brewer; and a brother, Preston Shultz.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield, with the Rev. Robert Stump officiating. Burial will take place in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Methodist Church-Sneaker Closet, 121 N. Second St., Clearfield.
