CLEARFIELD – Police Sgt. James Glass presented the Lawrence Township Supervisors with a quote for an ENRADD Wireless Speed-timing System at a reduced cost of $2,995, and for four new tasers, including holsters and extra batteries, costing $6,279.86. The supervisors approved the purchases.
Glass requested an executive session with the supervisors to discuss police personnel issues. The supervisors adjourned to executive session at the end of their regular meeting but took no action following the session.
Code Enforcement Officer Debra Finkbeiner presented two applications for Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance (LERTA).
Reed Ventures LLC applied for LERTA for their facility at 2828 Washington Ave., Hyde, for remodeling and improvements estimated at $100,000, Finkbeiner said.
The facility, previously owned by Beard Oil, is the site of the planned Hydro-Spray manufacturing and service business. Hydro-Spray will reportedly provide car wash maintenance and repair service, hydraulic hose and pressure washer repair services, plus light manufacturing and wholesaling of car wash parts and equipment.
The second LERTA application was by JBL Holdings for construction and improvements to the Red Roof Inn on Route 879, Clearfield-Shawville Highway. Finkbeiner said the inn is progressing from Phase II to Phase III of the improvements project estimated to cost $500,000. Plans include a new banquet hall, restaurant and bar, plus major remodeling of the hotel rooms, she said.
The supervisors approved both LERTA applications. After completion of each project, Clearfield County Assessment Office will reassess each property and determine the assessments eligible for property tax exemption and the exemption schedules.
Roadmaster Ron Woodling reported that bagged leaves will still be picked up. Residents may call the township office to arrange for pick-up, he said.
Woodling also reported that all the winter road maintenance materials are stocked and that the road crew has been working on getting equipment ready for winter road maintenance.
The supervisors also approved a sewerage surcharge exoneration for a Carrs Hill residence.
