While the Donald Trump campaign has been called a circus in the past, this Saturday might have been the only time an actual elephant was on the scene.
At a campaign stop in Sarasota, Florida, a female Asian elephant named Essex was seen walking around outside the grounds with “Trump — Make American Great Again” drawn with chalk on its side.
A volunteer at the rally told CNN that the elephant is from a local company called the “Elephant Walk,” whose owner Frank Murray is a Trump supporter and decided to come out.
Elephants are the mascot of the Republican Party, and Trump is seeking the party’s nomination for president in 2016.
The Trump campaign has not yet responded for comment. The event is being held at a fairgrounds on Ringling Boulevard.
