Coldplay is set to give an amateur crooner from Washington, D.C., his big break.
Frontman Chris Martin says the singing voice of President Barack Obama will feature on the band’s forthcoming album, “A Head Full of Dreams.” It is due to be released next month.
“We have a tiny clip of the president singing ‘Amazing Grace’,” Martin told the British tabloid The Sun. “Because of the historical significance of what he did and also that that song being about, ‘I’m lost but now I’m found’.”
According to The Sun, a person close to the band said they received “permission from Obama himself and the Charleston church it was recorded in.”
Obama delivered his lyrical eulogy at a memorial service for the slain preacher and state legislator Clementa Pinckney, who was killed along with 8 other parishioners during a bible study class at Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 17.
