DUBOIS – Brighten the Night, an event organized by the Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group, kicked off the holiday season in DuBois. This year’s event took place Friday at the Edward V Cherry Amphitheater in the DuBois City Park.
Families gathered in the brisk weather to see which lucky child would be the one to light the trees on the big stage. Children received bells with tags on them, and the one who had the bell with the right symbol on the tag would be chosen to light the tree.
Carter Jeneveraux had the special bell and strode up to the stage to help light up the night. After the decorations were lit, Holli Bash, DDRG staff, led the kids in a Christmas sing-along while DJ Mad Max supplied the Christmas soundtracks.
The event concluded with a surprise visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Families lined up for photo-ops with everybody’s favorite head elf and his beloved wife.
Brighten the Night was sponsored by First Commonwealth Bank. For more information on holiday events, visit the Downtown DuBois Facebook page.
