CLEARFIELD – Towering over Leonard Street in Clearfield, visible from many different points, is the new Graystone Court Villas apartment complex.
Located on the site of the old county home, also known as the former Multi-Service Center, the building answers a need in the area for more housing for seniors who are still active but no longer want the responsibility of upkeep of a house. Its location is also close to the first Graystone building and within easy driving distance to stores, restaurants and other amenities.
Jeff Long, owner of Graystone, said construction began this spring, and they are a little ahead of schedule. The roof is on the building, and he said they can now work on the inside of the building through the winter.
There are 112 apartments available, both one- and two-bedroom units. He said there had been a waiting list, but now they have begun the rental process and about half of the apartments are now rented.
Long noted that many people hesitate when they see the cost, and he said the cost includes all utilities as well as cable television.
Renters will also have the option to have a garage for their vehicle at an additional cost. There are only 20 garage spaces available, and they are on a first come-first served basis, he said.
Long said that Graystone also offers a security system at each entrance and good lighting. All maintenance, he said, is provided for the residents as well. Additionally, Long noted that all of the units, patios, etc. are smoke-free environments.
Currently, there are 13 Graystone locations in the state, including this one.
