The Elk County Toastmasters Club would like to invite members of the public to attend its special meeting Thursday that is focused on accommodating members with disabilities.
The club values members with disabilities because of their inspirational qualities. It views those members as highly enabled based upon the challenges they must overcome.
Elk County Toastmasters strive to make all accommodations that are within their power to enable disabled members of the community to participate.
Elk County Toastmasters membership currently includes Otto Nissen, a quadriplegic individual, who has motivated the club to reach out to people with any type of disability.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations.
Elk County Toastmasters serves a wide region; members do not have to reside in Elk County to participate.
Many Toastmasters are interested in improving speaking skills to further their professional development, but other members wish to share their life stories for the benefit of others.
The club challenges its members to make a difference in other people’s lives and in their communities.
Elk County Toastmasters meet every second and fourth Thursday at the St. Marys Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. The building and meeting room is handicapped accessible.
