CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School Drama Club will begin its 2015-16 season with a fall play that combines themes from a classic in literature with living in the 21st century and navigating life’s social situations.
Performances of Football Romeo will be held at the CAJSHS auditorium on Nov. 19, 20 and 21 with all shows beginning at 7 p.m. All general admission tickets are $5 (children 4 years and under are free) and will be available at the door.
The new drama teacher at Verona Beach High, Ms. Kavendish (Devynn Ireland), is directing Romeo and Juliet. Nicole (Carlee Walker) is certain she will be the perfect Juliet and her linebacker boyfriend Rick (Josh Serena) the perfect Romeo.  Too bad life isn’t perfect!
Sparks fly when Danny (Gavin Starr), the self-professed drama geek, is chosen over the linebacker. Nicole cries foul and demands the play be recast. Not only must Danny fight his insecurities as a performer and his brother treating him as a science experiment, he must also fight to keep the role of a lifetime.
Both hilarious and touching, this show will appeal to those who love Shakespeare, those who fear Shakespeare and those who’ve never heard of Shakespeare. Additional cast members include: Sandra Knepp, Breanna Wisor, Diane Thompson, Caleb Eisenhauer, Emma Potter, Haeley Stott, Lauren Sattesahn and Casen Zitzelberger.
