CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield school board approved a tentative settlement offer of $100,000 from RNR Construction Company Inc. in regards to the Girard-Goshen Elementary School at Monday night’s meeting.
Bacterial Infection Suspected in Deaths of Four at Pennsylvania Hospital
A Pennsylvania hospital said Monday that it’s telling about 1,300 open-heart surgery patients they could have been exposed to a bacterial infection after identifying eight patients who contracted nontuberculous mycobacterium, or NTM. Four of those patients died.
Larson Sentenced to State Prison for Leading Police on High-speed Chase
CLEARFIELD – A DuBois man who led police on a high-speed chase was sentenced to state prison Tuesday in Clearfield County Court.
Judge Lowers Bail for DuBois Robbery Suspect
CLEARFIELD – One of three men accused of robbing a man in his residence was in court Tuesday asking for his $100,000 bail to be reduced.
Mackenzie A. Carlson, 18, 602 Locust St., DuBois, is charged with two counts of robbery, burglary, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, recklessly endangering another person, criminal trespass, two counts of criminal conspiracy/robbery, criminal conspiracy/burglary, criminal conspiracy/criminal trespass, criminal conspiracy/theft by unlawful taking, criminal conspiracy/receiving stolen property, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy/simple assault, and criminal conspiracy/recklessly endangering another person.
CCSWA Requests Commissioners to Support Keeping Recycling Program “As Is”
CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday board members from the county’s Solid Waste Authority engaged the Clearfield County Commissioners in a lengthy discussion regarding the CCSWA’s financial struggles and then requested support to sustain the current recycling program.

Hummel Pleads Guilty to Stealing Metal from RJ Corman
CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man accused of stealing metal from RJ Corman pleaded guilty Tuesday during sentencing court.
Michael Jesse Hummel, 47, 163 Palmer St., Clearfield, pleaded guilty to a felony count of criminal conspiracy/theft by unlawful taking and 10 misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking.
NORAD ‘Blimp’ Comes Loose from Tether
A blimp-like aircraft associated with NORAD’s surveillance of the East Coast has become untethered from its mooring in Maryland and it’s now flying over Pennsylvania, according to NORAD spokesman Lt. Joe Mavrocki.
Hearing Continued in Sexual Assault Case
CLEARFIELD – During Centralized Court Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail, the preliminary hearing was continued until 10 a.m. Nov. 10 for a man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing from Hospitalized Father
CLEARFIELD – A Rockton man accused of stealing money from his father while he was hospitalized pleaded guilty to theft Tuesday during plea and sentencing court.
Timothy W. Mayes Jr., 50, 1856 Continental Dr., Rockton, an inmate of the jail, was sentenced by Judge Paul E. Cherry to 35 days to one year in jail and two years consecutive probation. He was fined $250 plus costs and he must pay restitution of $5,109 to his father.
Resident Brings Pedestrian, Traffic Safety Concerns on 21st Street to Commissioners
CLEARFIELD – A Lawrence Township resident, Nancy Myrter, brought concerns about pedestrian and traffic safety on a township roadway, 21st Street, to the attention of the Clearfield County Commissioners on Tuesday.
First Meeting to Discuss Consolidation of Clearfield Borough/Lawrence Township Held
CLEARFIELD – Talks of consolidating two local municipalities continued Wednesday night at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School.
Members of a joint committee, made up of representatives who live or work in Clearfield Borough or Lawrence Township, along with representatives from the Pennsylvania Economy League presented information to the public regarding an Early Intervention Program consolidation study.
Hearings Continued for Former Fire Company Officers Accused of Theft
CLEARFIELD – During Centralized Court on Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail, the preliminary hearings were continued until 10:15 a.m. Dec. 9 for two former fire company officers accused of stealing more than $4,000.
Charges Held to Court for Burglary Suspect Who Failed to Appear
CLEARFIELD – Charges were held for court against a Clearfield man who was allegedly involved with breaking into and stealing DJ equipment from a storage unit in Lawrence Township and who failed to appear for his preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
