A farmer’s market will be held every Saturday from July through October from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the corner of Brady Street and Long Avenue in downtown DuBois. It is sponsored by the Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group.

Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center
From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., you can come into the creepy lobby for free treats for all ages. Then, you can enjoy exhibits … but watch out for spooky surprises! It is the regular $5 admission until 4 p.m.
From 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., you can come in costume (or not) to hear a storyteller tell a spooky (but not too scary) story, play some Halloween games, grab some treats, have cider and donuts and enjoy free time on the exhibits. The cost is $7 per person (appropriate for all ages), and registration is appreciated at 814-938-1000.
Phil’s Trick-or-Trot
Gobbler’s Knob
Phil’s Trick-or-Trot will be held Oct. 31 at Gobbler’s Knob. The 5K/2.2 Walk registration is at 12 p.m., and the 5K start time is 1 p.m. The 2.2 Fun Walk start time is 1:15 p.m.
Phil’s Trick-or-Trot will be held rain or shine, and registration costs $25.
Participants are encouraged to come in costume but are not required to; all costume contest participants must arrive at 11:45 a.m. for check-in and judging.
Race awards will be given to the overall top three male/female finishers and others for each age group.
Halloween Children’s Activity Day

You can come to Elk Country for fun-filled activities and Halloween fun! Bob for apples, play antler ring toss, catch some “fish,” build a bat box and many more fun activities! Murder Mystery Dinner/Halloween Party
Lakeview Lodge at Treasure Lake
The Riddlesbroad Touring Theater will present the spooktacular and hilarious “Franken Murder” on Saturday at the Lakeview Lodge at Treasure Lake. You can join Dr. Frankenstein and Igor, as they “dig up” clues in this horror-themed murder mystery.

World War II Speaker
DuBois Historical Society
The DuBois Area Historical Society will continue a November tradition of hosting a military veteran on Nov. 4, at 7 p.m., when World War II U. S. Navy veteran Emory Miller will be the guest speaker. Miller’s program at the society’s museum, 30 W. Long Ave., DuBois, is free and open to all.
Miller, who lives in Home Camp, was 17 years old when he enlisted in the U. S. Navy on Dec. 30, 1942. After completing boot camp at Newport, R. I., Miller served his enlistment in the Pacific Theater.
He was assigned to the U.S.S. Whitehurst, a destroyer escort, which survived the impact of a Japanese suicide plane at Okinawa, Japan. That attack killed 42 members of the Whitehurst’s crew.
World War II ended while Miller was still on duty. He spent the remainder of his tour on shore duty in Shanghai, China. He completed his enlistment on Dec. 27, 1946.
This is the concluding 2015 program for the DuBois Area Historical Society. The museum and genealogic library will remain open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. through the end of November.
