CLEARFIELD – It’s been a long time coming, and the end is near for the Clearfield Borough streetscape improvement project.
At Thursday’s meeting, Engineer Todd Banks gave the Clearfield Borough Council an update on the project.
Banks said there was a slight delay with the delivery of the trees needed for the landscaping portion of the project, but he predicts the project should be completed in about three weeks.
The $3 million project involves replacing sidewalks, lighting and planting trees. The project was made possible through a grant from PennDOT.
The council also approved spending up to $7,500 from the Holiday Lighting donations to purchase pole mounted decorative lighting for the holidays.
Also at the meeting, resident Ron Lizotte presented pictures of damage to Weaver, Williams and West Market streets. Lizotte said the streets were damaged by equipment being used to build the Riverwalk.
Lizotte asked if the streets were bonded and said he is concerned that the construction company responsible for the damage will not pay to fix the streets. Lizotte said he was also concerned that the damage may become worse over the winter, when the snow plows run.
Solicitor F. Cortez Bell III said he would check to see about a bond on the street and investigate the borough’s options for taking care of the problem.
