CLEARFIELD – A Houtzdale man accused of assault and resisting state police waived charges to court at his preliminary hearing Wednesday at the Clearfield County Jail.
Patrick Michael Dacillo, 26, of Houtzdale has been charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, harassment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and criminal attempt/criminal mischief. Bail has been set at $25,000.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 4, state police at Clearfield were dispatched to Colorado Drive for a 911 call with an open line. Dispatchers were able to hear yelling and a female crying during the call.
Upon arrival to the scene, state police made contact with the victim who was crying when she got out of her car. State police then observed Dacillo get out of the passenger’s side and flee on foot.
A short foot pursuit allegedly ensued before Dacillo slipped on wet grass. After an alleged struggle, state police were able to put Dacillo in handcuffs. Initially, Dacillo allegedly refused to put his hands behind his back.
While in handcuffs, Dacillo was allegedly combative and twice spit on a trooper’s right arm. At this time, Dacillo was also allegedly yelling and causing a public annoyance.
State police allegedly found that Dacillo was under the influence and had been drinking Southern Comfort.
When back-up arrived at the scene, a spit cloth was put over Dacillo’s head to keep him from spitting on state police. He was subsequently taken to the patrol car. However, when state police opened the door Dacillo allegedly kicked it shut. Dacillo allegedly had to be forced into the back seat after he kicked the door shut about three times.
Once inside the rear of the patrol car, Dacillo allegedly kicked the passenger’s side door and its window. Dacillo also allegedly started to hit his head off the cage window, which caused moderate injury to his face. Emergency personnel were called to the scene and treated Dacillo.
At the scene, the victim told state police that Dacillo started to be aggressive and cracked the dash of her vehicle. She told state police that Dacillo broke the rearview mirror and the passenger’s side sun visor.
The victim also told state police that Dacillo punched her in the head.
