Joseph H. Lengfellner, 89, of Clearfield died Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
He was born Sept. 27, 1926 in Altoona, a son of the late Ludwig and Bertha (Karl) Lengfellner.
Mr. Lengfellner was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, Penn Central Railroad and Conrail, retiring as a supervisor in 1986 after 43 years of service.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, where he served as a hospitality minister.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Clearfield Council No. 409, the F. Michael Sicks Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1785, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 and the Bavarian Aid Society of Altoona.
Mr. Lengfellner served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda (Eder) Lengfellner, to whom he was wed June 29, 1946 at the St. Mary’s Church, Altoona, and two children, Joseph Lengfellner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Linda Robinson and her husband, Howard of Bradenton, Fla.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joseph, Melissa, Justin, Joseph, Joshua, Jenna, Jason and Jessica; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Frances Goaziou and Catherine Muhlbauer, and a brother, Louis Lengfellner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield with Father John Miller as celebrant.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, or to the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second St., Clearfield.
