Virginia M. “Diddy” Syrylo, 85, of DuBois died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Sept. 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Patsy and Jennie (Pitzerell) Carmella.
On Feb. 3, 1951, she married Pete Syrylo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2004.
She worked as a secretary for Dr. Barley and Dr. Lietel until her retirement.
She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the bereavement committee and of the Altar Rosary Society.
She especially enjoyed cooking. She appeared regularly on WPSX Channel 3 cooking shows and won many cooking contests. She had a recipe published in Slice of Tender Pie.
She is survived by her three daughters, Jamie Lynn DeFrank and her husband, John of Hershey, Susan Elizabeth Rodgers of Midlothian, Va., and Lee Ann Syrylo of West Palm Beach, Fla., three grandchildren, Laura, Brian and Ethan, numerous nieces and nephews and her special feline, Stella.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
