An Amtrak passenger train has derailed in Northfield, Vermont, and emergency personnel are responding, the company said on its Twitter account.
Dana Huoppi, a spokeswoman with the Montpelier Fire Department, said at least two cars went off the track and over an embankment. First responders are on their way to the scene.
Ninety-eight people were aboard the train when it derailed, said Hjonis Hanson, a spokesman for Central Vermont Medical Center. The hospital is treating six patients in its emergency department, he said, and none have life-threatening injuries.
