Friday, Oct. 2
Friday Night Live
The 2015 season premiere of Friday Night Live will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2 on the stage at the Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre in downtown Clearfield.
Friday Night Live is an open mic/variety show featuring live, local comedy and music. It takes place on the first Friday of each month (except for Dec. 18 and Jan. 8 show nights) at the CAST, located at 112 E. Locust St.
Admission is only $5. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
Friday Night Live is “loosely-based” on Saturday Night Live. The goal is to showcase local talent and to create a comedy club atmosphere.
Organizers of Friday Night Live are always in search of new talent.

Farmer’s Market
Downtown DuBois
A farmer’s market will be held every Saturday through October from 8 a.m. – 11 a.m. It is held at the corner of Brady Street and Long Avenue in downtown DuBois and sponsored by the Downtown DuBois Revitalization Group.
Coalport Flea/Farmer’s Market
The flea/farmer’s market will be open the first Saturday through October. Both markets are held from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Beechwood Park in Coalport; set up will begin at 6:30 a.m.
The flea market space is $15 per month. If you set up all six months, the cost for space is $50; you will get your first month free.
The farmer’s market spaces are limited to food products and plants; you provide your own tables, chairs, etc. The space costs $10 per vendor per day. If you sign up for all five months, it is $40; your first month is free.

Chicken Barbecue
The Quehanna Industrial Development Corp. (QIDC) will hold a chicken barbecue Saturday, Oct. 3. It includes a chicken half, baked beans and macaroni salad. Tickets are $9. Dinners will be served beginning at 12 p.m. until they are sold out. Advanced tickets may be purchased by calling 814-263-4367 or 814-263-4118. Tickets are also available at the Quehanna Motor Lodge, Maw & Paw Country Side Mall and Benton’s Market, all in Karthaus. Knights of Columbus, Clearfield
The 20th annual Anne S. Thacik Charity Auction will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Knights of Columbus, Clearfield. It will feature a silent auction and various games of chance; the live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Bob E. Day as emcee and Pat Errigo as auctioneer. Wine and a variety of desserts will be available throughout the evening. Tickets are $10 each or $100 for groups of 15 people. Funds raised will help support the programs and services of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging.

Candidates Forum
Penn State DuBois
The candidates for Clearfield County Commissioner will face off during a forum on Oct. 8.
The forum will begin at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Penn State DuBois. It is being hosted by the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce and the Student Government Association of PSU DuBois.
The four candidates are John Sobel (R); Tony Scotto (R); Mark McCracken (D); and Trudy Lumadue (D). All four have accepted an invitation to attend the forum.
