Helen E. Johnston, 91, of Curwensville died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
Born Nov. 24, 1923, she was the daughter of Samuel and Laura Mae (Milligan) Cruikshank. She was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church.
She was retired from Goodman’s Foodliner (Goodman’s IGA) in Curwensville as a manager/cashier after 36 years of service.
On July 3, 1947 in the Bradford Presbyterian Church, she wed Woodrow Albert “Woody” Johnston, who preceded her in death on June 1, 2001.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kenneth A. Johnston; and a brother, Robert Cruikshank.
Surviving are a son, Eugene A. “Gene” Johnston and his wife, Patty of Curwensville; a grandson, Cory Johnston and his wife, Devon of Clearfield; three great-granddaughters, Eloise Anne, Dinah Jean and Audra Joy Johnston; a sister, Donna Tubbs of Luthersburg; a sister-in-law, Thelma “Taffy” Cruikshank of Riverside, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; and a lifelong friend and good neighbor, Peg Carfley.
At the request of Mrs. Johnston, there will be no public visitation, and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with Mr. Gary B. Jewart officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.
