U.S. officials on Thursday previewed new climate regulations that will be unveiled when President Barack Obama and President Xi Jinping meet for bilateral talks on Friday.
The largest is a cap-and-trade-style system in China, by which the world’s largest polluter will reaffirm its commitment made last year to substantially reduce its carbon emissions.
China also plans to make a “significant” new contribution to green power, though U.S. officials wouldn’t provide additional details.
