Kanye West, who opened up about his plans to run for president in 2020 in a Vanity Fair interview published Thursday, called Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson a “brilliant guy.”
After the news broke, rapper Ice-T slammed Carson in a tweet.
“A message to people who think Black people voted for Obama because he was Black.. F— Ben Carson.. He’s outta his Fn mind..” he said.
The hip-hop star and actor, who said in 2012 that HIllary Clinton is a “G” and will be the first woman president, live tweeted during the CNN Republican presidential debate.
“That Doctor just lost me with that Mexican Slavery idea,” he said.
He also added, “Those Black people in the audience are paid seat fillers…” and concluded his Twitter storm by saying he is voting for “Deez Nuts.”
That’s the 15-year-old boy from Iowa who played a practical joke on America earlier this summer by registering himself as a presidential canidate with Federal Election Commission under that name.
West, though, said he was impressed by Carson’s intellect; Carson is a now-retired world renowned neurosurgeon.
While discussing his plans to run for president, West said, “As soon as I heard Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him. I was like this is the most brilliant guy. And I think all the people running right now have something that each of the others needs.”
West added that “this gladiator battle takes away from the main focus that the world needs help and the world needs all the people in a position of power or influence to come together.”
