CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Denise Martzall, 51, of Washington Avenue, Dubois. Martzall is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call on Sept. 3.
On March 24, Officer Casey Doherty of the Dubois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint against Martzall. He charged Martzall with several counts of retail theft, F3; theft by deception, M3; and receiving stolen property, M3.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 10, 2014, Doherty received a report about several alleged retail thefts from a local business. Police were advised that Martzall had allegedly been deceiving employees into giving her refunds for items she had not purchased at the store.
Upon further investigation, Martzall was allegedly viewed on video surveillance on four, separate occasions. She was allegedly removing items from the shelves of the store and then returning them for a cash refund.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 24, at which time all charges were held to court. On Sept. 3, Martzall failed to appear at Criminal Call, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Martzall is described as a Caucasian female standing 5 feet, 2 inches tall. She has brown hair and eyes.
Anyone with knowledge of Martzall’s location is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
