Donald S. Hartshorne Sr., 89, of Clearfield died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
Mr. Hartshorne was born March 4, 1926, in Johnstown, the son of Albert E. and Josephine (Beck) Hartshorne.
He retired from American General Insurance after 38 years of service as a manager and auditor.
Mr. Hartshorne was a member of the Mount Joy United Methodist Church.
He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6, the Clearfield B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 540 and the Clearfield S.O.I.
Mr. Hartshorne was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Betty B. (Blewitt) Hartshorne, to whom he was married April 29 1950 at the First Christian Church in New Castle.
He is survived by three children, Donald S. Hartshorne Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of West Sunbury, Jeffrey D. Hartshorne and his wife, Sally of Shippensburg and Beth H. Helsel and her husband, Rick of Clearfield; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jo Marie Perrine of Monroeville.
Mr. Hartshorne was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Roberts.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. Kenneth Leonard officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Burial will be at the Mount Joy Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. Thursday until the hour of services at the funeral home.
