Sandra J. Humenay, 72, of Clearfield and formerly of Kylertown, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
She was born Aug. 11, 1943 in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Ira J. and Marguerite M. (Williams) Shope.
Mrs. Humenay owned Sandy’s Beauty Shop in Kylertown for more than 40 years. She volunteered at Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield, where she assisted with Mass. She also enjoyed reading.
Mrs. Humenay was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, and a former member of the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Grassflat.
She is survived by two daughters, Clara Floyd and her husband, Jim of Munson and Lisa Coval and her husband, AJ of Clearfield; four grandchildren, Marci Thomson and her fiancé, Nathan Swanson of Georgia, Ayla Thomson of Georgia and Alex and Sydney Coval, both of Clearfield; two sisters, Ruth Ann Little and her husband, Earl of Morrisdale and Clara Little of Lancaster; and a brother, Halford Shope and his wife, Katie of Forest.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Humenay on Dec. 1, 1997; and a brother, Ira J. ‘Jake’ Shope Jr.
A Funeral Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Father John L. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
At the funeral home on Tuesday, a Vigil Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield, or to the Orphans of the Storm, c/o Peggy Sass, 223 Hill St., Curwensville.
