CLEARFIELD – Beautification projects continue in Clearfield Borough ahead of schedule.
At Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council meeting, Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott gave an update on the streetscape project.
Stott said the crews have reached the YMCA and are continuing to move at a rapid rate.
“They are way ahead of schedule,” Stott said. “It was supposed to be a two-year project, but it looks like they’ll be done by the end of this year.”
The project involves replacing sidewalks, trees and decorative light poles in the downtown area. The project was made possible through a grant from PennDOT.
Stott also gave an update on the park project, which is moving forward on the former Novey property.
Stott said the coffer dam is in the process of being removed and a lot of the “lego block” concrete barriers being used to stabilize the banks of the river are being placed.
She said the medallions, which will be placed in the sidewalks in the park area have been delivered and will be placed in the sidewalks as they are poured.
During public comment, Stott informed the council that resident Sam Lidgett had submitted a petition from several residents of Dorey Street, requesting a street light to be replaced near the area of 713 Dorey St.
Stott said there was a utility pole in the area and Penelec will install the light if they can. The light itself will be metered into the borough’s system.
The council approved the motion to have the light placed.
