Beleaguered “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kim Richards is being defended by her ex-husband.
Monty Brinson posted a throwback picture of him and Richards on Monday, with a long caption about his support for the reality star.
“All I will say at this time besides being best friends, and personally a person who has a great heart is thankful to all her fans and friends for believing in her,” Brinson wrote. “Personally I have not seen her but we speak everyday. Do I know everything absolutely. Do I take up for my family and friends absolutely. Do I say it like it is. Absolutely.”
Richards’ troubles with substance abuse have been documented on her Bravo show, and in June, she was charged with three misdemeanor counts after she was accused of kicking a police officer during an arrest in April. She underwent a stint in rehab that ended in July, and in August, she was arrested and accused of shoplifting at a Target in San Fernando Valley.
Brinson reportedly is ill, and the pair have remained friends since their three-year marriage ended in 1988. They have a daughter, Brooke, who recently married.
A former child star, Richards appeared in several Disney films, including “Escape to Witch Mountain.”
Brinson assured fans that there is more to the story than has been reported.
“Without going into detail 90 per-cent of what you read is completely false,” he wrote. “But for her fans that have stayed with her through this roller coaster will see her very soon at what she’s done best all her life since the age of 4. I’m excited for her.”
