The wife of retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens died early Friday following complications stemming from hip surgery, the high court announced on Friday.
Maryan Mulholland Stevens, of Arlington, was 84. She was born in Chicago and worked as a dietician after graduating from St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana.
She was married to Justice Stevens for 35 years and was a mother of five and also had three stepchildren. Stevens is survived by eight grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren.
There will be a private internment service at Arlington National Cemetery.
