Two spectators were killed and more than a dozen injured Monday when a circus tent collapsed in New Hampshire, the state fire marshal said.
The Walker Brothers Circus was performing a show in Lancaster when severe weather hit, Fire Marshal William Degnan said.
About 100 people were inside the tent when it came down around 5:30 p.m., Degnan said.
Officials didn’t release the names of the deceased, only describing them as a “young man and a young girl.” An estimated 15 people were hospitalized, Degnan said.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately clear. But the storm brought 1-inch hail, 60 mph winds and lightning, authorities said.
Degnan said authorities will be looking into the setup of the tent as part of the investigation.
