One person was killed and at least 15 were injured Sunday when hail and high winds uprooted a tent at a festival west of Chicago, authorities said.
The incident happened at around 2:40 p.m. local time (3:40 p.m. ET) at the Prairie Fest in Wood Dale, Illinois.
Rescue workers treated and released several people on the scene, according to a statement from police.
“We are currently working to make notifications to the family of the victim. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family,” it read.
Prairie Fest is an annual, 4-day festival in Wood Dale.
