A female bomber blew herself up Sunday in northeast Nigeria, killing at least 15 people and injuring 46 others, according to the head of the Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency.
The woman lived in the area where the attack happened in the city of Damaturu in Yobe state, residents Kulo Fannami and Halilu Grema told CNN. The bomb went off at a busy market, witnesses and medical officials said.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The militant Islamic group Boko Haram is active in the area and has previously used female bombers to carry out attacks.
