David Ray Witherow, 29, of Houtzdale died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Penn Highlands, Clearfield.
Born Jan. 24, 1986 in Philipsburg, he is the son of Diane (Read) Stewart of Clearfield and Dennis Witherow of Houtzdale.
Mr. Witherow was a 2004 graduate of Moshannon Valley High School.
He was a member of the Ramey Fire Co., Houtzdale, Loyal Order of Moose No. 327 and the Janesville Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Witherow was employed as a driller at Mine Drilling Company in the limestone industry.
He enjoyed playing pool and volunteering as a fireman. He was an avid hunter.
He is survived by his parents; his step-mother, Cindy Witherow; a brother, Adam Stewart; a step-brother, Nicholas Strickland; and two nephews, Jeremy Carter Linn and Blayze Strickland.
Also surviving are his paternal grandfather, Cameron Witherow; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Read Peters; his aunts, Debbie Swatsworth and her husband, Richard and Sharon Hallstrom; his uncles, Don Witherow and his wife, Angie and Rick Witherow and his wife, Kathy.
Mr. Witherow was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Gloria Ann Witherow; his maternal grandfather, Mannie Read; and his uncle, John Witherow.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, with Pastor Polzella officiating.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
