Herman J. Neamy, 92, of Clearfield died Monday, July 20, 2015 at his home. He was born Dec. 1, 1922 in New Millport, a son of the late Samuel and Mae (Bell) Neamy.
Mr. Neamy retired in 1987 from automobile parts sales after 41 years of employment. He was a 50-year member of the United Commercial Travelers.
He had been active at the Chaplin Department for the hospital since 1991. Mr. Neamy also volunteered at various blood mobiles with the American Red Cross.
He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield, where he had enjoyed volunteering his time and efforts. Mr. Neamy also served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by two daughters, JoEllen Narehood and Emmylu Accordino and her husband, Dennis, both of Clearfield, and three grandchildren, Denise Narehood of Stroudsburg, Heidi Puzzuto and her husband, Andy of Clearfield and Drew Herman Philip Accordino, M.D., and his wife, Melissa of New York City.
He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Airman First Class Jacob Puzzuto RAF stationed in Lakenheath, England, Olivia and Madison Nash of Stroudsburg and Cooper and Jackson Accordino of New York City and a sister, Louise Mihal and her husband, Stephen of New Millport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean (Herrala) Neamy, on Aug. 11, 2002 and to whom he was wed Jan. 26, 1946 at Faith United Lutheran Church.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Esther Waddell and four brothers, Frederick, Earl, Theodore and Maynard Neamy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Susan Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Irvona.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
