Mary Myrtle Barrett, 74, of LaJose died Monday, July 6, 2015 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born April 3, 1941 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Clair and Goldie (Shaffer) Clapsaddle.
Mrs. Barrett had worked at various establishments, including the former Kent Sportswear in Curwensville, the former Branding Iron Restaurant in Curwensville, Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville. She also did Home Health Care.
She was a member of the Mahaffey Church of the Brethren. She was a former member of the Mahaffey VFW and a past member of the Ferguson Township Elections Board.
In 1960 she wed Dean Barrett, who survives along with two children, Ricky Dean Barrett at home and M. Annette Bond and her husband, Gary of Mahaffey.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Kristian Barrett and wife Aimee; Kevin Ross and his wife, Cathy; Heather Bond Lanager and her husband, Buddie; Raymond Peace and his fiancée, Krista Schwartz; Gary Bond Jr. and his companion, Olivia Bennett; Josie Peace; Lisa Bond and her companion, Scott Queen; and Vicki Hullihen and her husband, Matt.
In addition, there are 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, Beverly Hatten of Grampian, Paul Clapsaddle and his wife, Diane of Maine, Droz Clapsaddle and his wife, Janet of Irishtown and Shirley Davis and her husband, Denny of Clearfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Brenda Lee Ross and Clairene Jo Peace.
At the request of Mrs. Barrett, there will be no public visitation.
Memorial Services for Mrs. Barrett will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Brethren in Mahaffey with the Rev. Douglas Turner officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830 or the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 602, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
