CLEARFIELD – The Penn State Extension in Clearfield will sponsor a Home Food Preservation: Canning Basics workshop on Wednesdays, July 15 and Aug. 5, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Mountain Laurel Health & Rehabilitation, 700 Leonard St. in Clearfield.
This introductory workshop provides recommendations on how to safely can seasonal garden produce and specialty items. The course will cover the science behind canning, how to use a pressure canner or boiling water bath canner, types of pack, safe methods and procedures, storage and resources.
