Elizabeth Mary Barker, 49, of DuBois died Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Jan. 25, 1966 in St. Cloud, Minn., she was the daughter of Corrine (Wolters) Klemz. Her mother survives and lives in DuBois.
On June 26, 2004, she married Gilbert J. Barker Jr. He survives.
Mrs. Barker was employed by Sunny 106.5 and WCED 1420 Radio for more than 20 years. She worked in many capacities at the radio station and was well known on the air as Beth Walters.
She grew up in Cold Spring, Minn., where she was a 1984 graduate of ROCORI High School. She was a graduate of St. Cloud State University, where she was also a member of the St. Cloud Alumni Association.
She was a member of We R Survivors Cancer Support Group and the Oklahoma Elementary School PTA. She was associated locally with the Boy Scouts of America program. For years, she was the host of the Scholastic Challenge in DuBois, and she was a DuBois Panther Football Mom.
Mrs. Barker was the much-beloved mother of her two sons, Gilbert and Walter Barker. She enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities and spending time with her two “Gifts from God.”
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alphonse and Margaret Wolters.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor David Bish officiating.
