LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County made the trip home for the Clearfield American Legion baseball team a very long one by staging two big rallies for a 10-1 win in Central Penn League action Tuesday evening at the Mifflin County High School Field.
Two walks and a single by Ty Bender produced the Chiefs’ run in the first inning, and Will Myers protected that 1-0 advantage until the fourth, when the hosts erupted for six runs on five hits with the help of two walks and two errors.
Hunter Walker’s two-run single capped the outburst and ended Myers’ stint at 3-1/3 innings.
Tommy Hazel relieved and got two quick outs but ran into trouble in the sixth.
Mifflin County parlayed six hits into four runs. A two-out miscue made three of them unearned.
Walker, Max Remy and Lucas McKay led Mifflin County’s 15-hit attack with a double and a single apiece. Tyler Powell added a pair of singles.
Marcus Luzier singled and doubled for the Chiefs, who fell to 3-7 in the CPL and 4-8 overall.
Clearfield will be at home against Altoona Thursday and Huntingdon Friday at 6 p.m. at the Bison Sports Complex and Altoona again Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park.
