Conrad Hilton, the younger brother of socialite Paris Hilton, was arrested this week on an accusation of violating a restraining order, less than a week after a federal judge put him on three years’ probation for assaulting flight attendants, authorities say.
Hilton, 21, was taken into custody Monday afternoon in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood on accusations of breaking the restraining order, said Los Angeles police spokeswoman Liliana Preciado.
Preciado said police don’t release the name of the party who obtained the restraining order, but the Los Angeles Times reported that it was Hilton’s ex-girlfriend.
Hilton and his attorney couldn’t be immediately reached for comment Tuesday.
Under the conditions of his current federal probation, Hilton “shall not commit another federal, state or local crime,” according to federal court records.
This week’s incident is the latest brush with the law for Hilton, the great-grandson of the Hilton Hotel empire’s founder, Conrad Nicholson Hilton.
He admitted guilt in another criminal case and faces a third one.
Quite a scene on airline flight
On June 16, Hilton formally pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault against flight attendants in exchange for prosecutors dropping a felony charge, federal court records show.
Hilton was placed on three years’ probation and ordered to submit to drug tests, undergo mental health treatment and participate in an outpatient substance abuse program, federal records show. Hilton also must perform 750 hours of community service.
The federal case arose from his conduct aboard a British Airways flight on July 31, 2014, from London to Los Angeles.
Hilton signed court papers stating he smoked marijuana in the plane bathroom, threaten to kill one flight attendant, and “punched at, but missed” another attendant, court papers said.
On the flight, Hilton allegedly called passengers “peasants” when he yelled profanities several times: “I will f—— own anyone on this flight; they are f—— peasants.”
The federal misdemeanor charge carried up to a six-month prison sentence and a fine of at least $5,000, but federal prosecutors agreed that they would “recommend that defendant be sentenced to a term of probation,” court records said.
Speeding, fleeing an officer, crashing
In the other case, he was charged on April 24 with a felony count of recklessly disregarding and fleeing the siren and flashing light of a patrol vehicle belonging to a California Fish and Wildlife officer in August 2014, according to court records in Riverside County.
Hilton was driving his black BMW allegedly at 90 mph on Interstate 10 when he blew past the patrol car of Officer Jason Green, according to Green’s declaration filed in court.
Green tried to stop Hilton, but “I observed the driver look into his rearview mirror” and “the suspect vehicle accelerated fleeing eastbound on Interstate 10…,” Green stated in court documents.
Hilton allegedly sped at more than 100 mph, and “I terminated the pursuit at approximately 1206 hours due to excessive high speed, traffic becoming heavier in miles down the road, and beginning to lose sight of the suspect vehicle,” Green said in court papers.
Almost 30 minutes later, a California Highway Patrol officer reported that Hilton got into a traffic collision, Green said in court documents.
Hilton’s father is Rick Hilton, the grandson of the Hilton Hotel founder. Rick Hilton and his wife of more than 30 years, Kathy, are parents of four children: Paris, Nicky, Barron and Conrad.
