Taliban militants detonated explosives and fired rockets near the Afghan Parliament on Monday as lawmakers were gathering for a vote to confirm a new defense minister.
The attackers were unable to enter the main parliament building in Kabul, the capital, and all lawmakers were evacuated from it unharmed, said police spokesman Ebadullah Karimi.
Information about any casualties from the attack wasn’t immediately available.
