Clearfield– No Tyme Like the Present held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony at it’s location at 18 S. 2nd Street on June 12.
Locally owned and operated by Elaine Newkirk, No Tyme like the Present is a Thrift Shop like no other providing free of charge clothing to the homeless, disadvantaged youth and those living below the poverty level.
They sell to the community to support their programs. They have quality Gently used clothing for just $1.00 or less. They work with various partners such as the Red Cross, Children and Youth Services, Churches, and many others to provide free clothing to those who are in need.
A portion of the proceeds go to benefit the programs of the TYME Youth Center. Donations are accepted at the store. Special sales on Gently used item are Tuesday- Men’s tops $.25, Bottoms $.50; Wednesday-Ladies tops $.25, bottoms $ .50; Thursday-Adult and Kids $.50; Friday- Kids clothing $.50.
Main Street Manager, Loretta Wagner, saids, “This is very exciting for Clearfield! Not only is No Tyme Like the Present a locally owned business, but this serves as an opportunity for the community to see the light at the end of the tunnel, that there truly is potential for helping others in our hometown of Clearfield, PA. With that in mind I would like to wish Elaine and her staff success with the business.”
Clearfield County Commissioners John Sobel and Mark McCracken were part of the ceremony to welcome the No Tyme Like the Present to downtown Clearfield and wished them the best of luck.
Commissioners Sobel and McCracken stated that they are impressed by Elaine’s spirit of charity. “Her devotion to building something in the community that is dedicated to employing young people in their first jobs is something special and helping people within the community.” said the commissioners.
