“Works of the Heart” Craft Show
DuBois Public Library
The annual “Works of the Heart” craft show and raffle will be held through June 12 at the DuBois Public Library. Drawings will be held at 2 p.m. June 12; all proceeds benefit the library.
DuBois Community Days
DuBois Community Days will be held June 12-13 and will feature entertainment, food, vendors, music, activities and events. There will be a fireman’s parade at 5 p.m. Saturday and fireworks at dusk.

Fridays are nutty this year. Watch John Acorn, the Nature Nut, in a series of video programs at 8:30 p.m. at the campground amphitheater that are as entertaining as they are educational. This week’s episode—hoofed animals. There are many different animals with hoofed feet, some even have different names in different places, but they are found in most parts of the world. Here we see deer and elk. Learn more about these creatures and their adaptations.
Learn Your Trees Walk

Parker Dam State Park will host a “Learn Your Trees Walk” at 6:00 p.m. at the Environmental Education Classroom. White pine or Eastern hemlock; Sugar maple or Red maple? Can you identify the tree common to Parker Dam? Come learn some easy ID tips. Even if you know some of them—you may learn something new and about these trees’ importance to our past.
Corner Concert
Shaw Park
“Touch of Grey” is the duo of Steve Koval and Don Guiffre and will perform classic hits with their acoustic style Friday at the Corner Concert at Shaw Park in downtown Clearfield.
The Corner Concerts will benefit the Special Olympics of Clearfield County. Music will get under way at 7 p.m. at the Shaw Park located on the corner of Market and Front streets.

A DuBois Community Days 5k will be held Saturday, June 13 at 8:30 a.m. at the DuBois City Park. Check-in will be from 7 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.; registration is open through June 12. The 5K is a free event, and all participants will receive a T-shirt.
Open House
Lock Haven Clearfield Campus
An open house will be held from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. June 13 at the Lock Haven University Clearfield Campus.
LHU Clearfield offers a wide range of degrees and serves the spectrum of traditional to non-traditional students. LHU Clearfield now offers two new degrees: Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and Associate of Arts in sustainability studies. LHU Clearfield also makes education available in late afternoon, evening and online.
The open house begins with an overview of LHU Clearfield degree options. Visitors will then move to the “Academic Arena,” where one-on-one meetings with faculty and staff, including representatives from financial aid, are held. For those interested in nursing, a focused session will be held.

Healthy Relationships Workshop
On Saturday, June 13 in DuBois, the Children’s Aid Society will host a healthy relationships workshop. Topics will focus on improving communication, fighting fair, strengthening a relationship, reducing stress, keeping fun and friendship, etc. Workshops are free to participants and for non-married individuals or couples. Elk Country Visitor Center
The Keystone Elk Country Alliance has partnered with the PA Wilds Artisan Trail to host an arts festival Saturday, June 13. It will showcase high-quality, locally-made products from the PA Wilds region. There will also be live music, artisan demonstrations and free workshops for new artists. The Art Festival will be held from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., rain or shine.

Kayak Basics will be taught at Parker Dam State Park at 10 a.m. behind Beach House NOTE: There is a $3 fee for all participants of this program. Learn what type of kayak you would be comfortable in, how to prepare for a day on the water, and most important– how to get in, out and get around on the water. A limited number of kayaks will be available. You can reserve a kayak by contacting the Park Office (814-765-0630).
Child Safety Day
Curwensville Lake
Staff at the Curwensville Lake will host a Child Safety Day from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13. The event will include a bike rodeo, EMS, firemen, police, a DUI simulator, a child safety seat check and bike inspections. Guests who make a non-perishable food donation will be admitted into the park for free. All donations will be given to local food banks.
Backyard Bear
Parker Dam
Meet for story time at Parker Dam State Park as we head to the small wooded area at 3:30 p.m. near the Beach House. This week’s story will give us a look into common encounters with black bears and what we should do if we are to encounter one ourselves. The story is best suited for children between the age of 4 and 10 years.
Jammin in the Park
Karthaus Park Association will host its annual “Jammin’ in the Park” country, gospel and bluegrass event Saturday, June 13 at 4 p.m. Admission is free. The event features the following acts: Down Country Boys (Sterling Run), Missing Link (Karthaus), Bobby Spaeth (Renovo) and The Unusual Suspects (State College). Meet at the Environmental Education Classroom, 9 p.m.
Join a park educator for a common rural activity – deer spotting. Car-pooling is encouraged. The tour will begin outside the Park Office, travel through S.B. Elliott State Park (about 6 miles away), and back to the starting point. The park will provide the spotting lamp, so please leave your own put away.

Queens for a Cause Car & Bike Show

On Sunday, June 14, Queens for a Cause will hold a bike/car show at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. The show raises funds for the Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger and local charities. Car/bike registration will be held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; awards will be given at 4 p.m.
There will be music, food, craft and other vendors. The Royal 5K Run/Walk will kick-off the day’s events at 8:30 a.m.; other events include a kid’s pedal tractor pull and a celebrity cow milking contest. Please check the event Facebook page for more information.
