CLEARFIELD – Renovations and improvements to several streets in Clearfield Borough are gaining momentum.
At Thursday’s work session, Engineer Todd Banks of Stiffler, McGraw and Associates, gave members of the Clearfield Borough Council an update on the progress of the $3 million project.
Banks said the workers have begun work on Market Street, moving past the Ritz Theater and up to the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce building. He said the project is moving along “rather quickly.”
The project includes replacing sidewalks, trees and decorative light poles in the downtown area. The project was made possible through a grant from PennDOT.
Also at the meeting, Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack said 26 door hangers have been distributed throughout the borough. Mack said the hangers are to remind residents that bags containing grass clippings and yard waste are not to be placed in the borough right-of-ways. He said the crews are no longer picking up the waste and the bags are to be taken to the compost site on 21st Street.
Mack said there are several homes in the borough, which are not displaying their house numbers. He said the owners of these properties will be contacted soon and reminded of the ordinance requiring the numbers.
The council then discussed signage, which will be placed in the parking lots at both Upper and Lower Witmer Park. The parking lots at the parks are for those using the park only. However, over the years, the signs have not been replaced. The signs have been ordered and will be put up soon.
