Jane S. Granlun, 86, of Philipsburg died Monday, June 8, 2015 at her home. Born March 31, 1929 in Wilkinsburg, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Janet (Stewart) Lathers.
She was a 1947 graduate of Philipsburg High School. She had worked for Bell Telephone Company, Howard Nichols Plumbing and the Philipsburg-Osceola School District.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg, where she was a member of the Edith Shimmel Missionary Society and the Prayer Circle.
She also filled in as church secretary when needed and was active in the First Church of Christ’s local church camp, Sylvan Hills.
For many years, she was a volunteer at the American Cancer Society, and she enjoyed gardening, crosswords and spending time at their camp at Black Moshannon.
She was a selfless woman who gave to others and helped everyone she could. She loved her family, church and community.
On Oct. 15, 1954 in State College, she married Frederick W. Granlun. He died March 20, 2015.
Surviving are two sons, Brad Granlun and John Granlun and his fiancée, Julie Adomis, both of Philipsburg; a brother, Alex Lathers of Alexandria, Va.; and three grandchildren, Alex Granlun, Birgitta Elizabeth Granlun and Amanda Nicole Granlun.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alma Pelka.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. June 16 at the First Church of Christ, Philipsburg, with the Rev. William R. Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. June 15 at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. June 16 at the church.
