CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday the Clearfield County Commissioners approved the transfer of $17,500 of Clearfield County Recreation & Tourism Authority (CCRTA) recreation funds to the Curwensville Lake Authority.
The commissioners approved the funding transfer pending approval by the CCRTA board at its next meeting. The CCRTA previously managed the Curwensville Lake and Recreation Area and maintained the Camp Wopsononock Natural Area.
According to Commissioner Mark B. McCracken, the CCRTA has held onto this “leftover” recreation funding that was for the lake and natural area. He said the CCRTA cannot use this funding for tourism promotions, as it’s designated for recreation.
McCracken said that the CLA would like to make improvements to its parking lot. The commissioners agreed parking lot improvements are necessary at Curwensville Lake, as the lot had become an “eyesore.”
Commissioner Joan Robinson-McMillen, chair, said the CLA parking lot gets a lot of “wear.” Commissioner John A. Sobel agreed, saying the sooner the CLA could fix the parking lot’s pavement the better.
