CLEARFIELD – An inmate accused of taking Subutex into the Clearfield County Jail waived her right to a preliminary hearing during Centralized Court on Wednesday.
Brittany M. Ross, 24, an inmate of the jail, has been charged with contraband/controlled substance, possession of controlled substance/inmate and intentional possession of a controlled substance. Her bail has been set at $25,000 monetary.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Lawrence Township police were dispatched to meet with the jail’s deputy warden regarding an alleged drug violation by an inmate on April 17. Upon arrival police were advised that while completing a “shake down” the night before, a corrections officer had allegedly located a white powdery substance.
The deputy warden said the CO located the white powdery substance in a sheet of yellow paper in a cell occupied by Ross and another female inmate. He said when the CO opened the sheet of paper some of the white powdery substance fell onto the floor. Upon a closer inspection, the deputy warden said that the CO found a small amount of the white powdery substance was still inside the paper.
Police interviewed both inmates from the cell on April 17. Ross allegedly admitted that the white powdery substance was Subutex, which she took into the jail.
